Job summary

The Lodge at Schroon Lake in Schroon Lake, NY is seeking cooks to safely and efficiently prepare and cook food that keeps guests coming back. Our goal is for guests to tell us our food and service are excellent, with a welcoming, family-first culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience; high school diploma and/or equivalent work experience; Culinary Arts education preferred.
• Serve-Safe Certification and Allergy Awareness Training preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
• Follow proper cooking techniques and methods to achieve desired flavors and appearances.
• Monitor food temperatures, cooking times, and ingredient quantities to prevent waste.
• Collaborate with the culinary team and management to develop and refine menu items.
• Experiment with new ingredients, flavors, and techniques to create innovative dishes.
• Stay informed about culinary trends and seasonal ingredients for menu planning.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and orderly kitchen environment at all times.
• Assist with inventory management, receiving, storing, and rotating ingredients.
• Follow proper food handling and storage procedures to minimize contamination risk.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and management to coordinate prep and service.
• Support and assist colleagues, including dishwashing, plating, and garnishing.
