Job summary

The Trustees of Reservations is seeking a Concessions Manager for Halloween on the Hill in Beverly, MA. The role oversees a small team, handles cash, and ensures smooth concessions operations during peak seasonal events.

You will train staff, manage a busy concessions tent, and coordinate nightly with Visitor Services and Retail Manager. This seasonal, onsite position requires flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Visitor Services and Retail Manager on concessions needs to ensure ample offerings.
  • Train Event Associates during the run of show to set tone in concessions for smooth operations.
  • Handle money, operate the POS system, and reconcile the drawer nightly.
  • Clean up each night and manage trash disposal.
  • Communicate with Managers on Duty regularly each night.

About Halloween on the Hill:

Over the past three years, Halloween on the Hill has become an extremely popular family friendly event bringing significant awareness and visitation to Long Hil.Nearly 2,000carved pumpkins are displayedcreatively inthroughout thetrailand the large-scale sets are an audience draw. A similar event takes place at Naumkeag in Stockbridge. The event brings over 25,000 visitors to Long Hill throughout October.

The Role:

Halfway through the trail, our concessions tent offers refreshments including cider, cider doughnuts, popcorn, candy, etc. The concessions manager has a key role as they manage a team of three Signature Event Assistants each night to set up for the event, ensure smooth operations throughout the event, and close at the end of the night. The concessions manager is also the primary cashier and reconciles sales at the end of the evening. The Halloween on the Hill schedule is as follows:

  • Week 1: Thursday October 1 - Sunday, October 4
  • Week 2: Thursday, October 8 - Sunday October 11
  • Week 3: Wednesday, October 14 - Sunday, October 18
  • Week 4: Wednesday, October 21 - Sunday, October 25
  • Week 5: Tuesday, October 27 - Friday, October 30

The Concessions Manager should be available most nights although some shifts can be covered if necessary.

The role would begin a week prior to the start of the event for training, organizing and set up and can go through mid-November toassistwith breakdown.This role reports to the Visitor Services and Retail Manager and the Property Director.

Specifically,you’ll:
  • Work in concert with the Visitor Services and Retail Manager communicatingfrequentlyabout concessions needs so there are ample offerings
  • Train Event Associates during the run of show to set tone in concessions for smooth operations
  • Handle money,operatethePoint of SaleSystem (POS) and reconcile the drawer at the end of each evening
  • Clean up each night including bringing trash to the dumpster
  • Communicate with Managers on Duty regularly each night as needed

This is aseasonal, non-exemptpositionreporting directly tothe Property Director.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy. [if needed]
