Job summary

Cruz Construction seeks a Master of Towing (Near Coastal) to oversee the safe operation of a towing vessel and crew in Alaskan waters. You will navigate harbors, estuaries, and coastal routes, making decisions to ensure safety and compliance with protocols.

The role requires knowledge of Alaska weather and towing methods, along with the ability to coordinate maintenance, procure provisions, and mentor crew members during seasonal deployments.

Qualifications

• Merchant Mariner Credential is required.
• Master of Towing (Near Coastal) certification is required.
• Radar Observer Unlimited certification is required.
• TWIC card is required.
• Valid Driver License required.
• Alaska towing experience including Western Alaska Rivers and Arctic regions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe operation of an assigned vessel and crew.
• Command vessel into and out of harbors, estuaries, straits, sounds, rivers, lakes and bays.
• Adhere to QSEMS, QAM, and OPM policies and procedures.
• Provide direction, coordination, and evaluation of vessel and crew.
• Determine course and towing speed based on local conditions and use navigation devices.
