Job summary

Eataly North America operates a on-site cooking school, La Scuola, offering distinctive Italian cuisine classes and private events. The Culinary Instructor leads programming, designs menus, and trains staff for hands-on and demonstration classes, ensuring high food quality and guest satisfaction.

The role requires presenting to diverse groups, coordinating with the Events and Education team, and maintaining kitchen safety and seasonal menu updates. Seasonal work with potential long-term growth.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of cooking experience.
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, food production procedures, and safety and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of speaking in front of large groups.
• In-depth knowledge of Italian cuisine and culture.

Responsibilities

• Teaches a wide variety of demonstration and hands-on classes for private and public groups.
• Oversees hands-on lunches and dinners including 3-4 course menus, family-style meals and corporate events.
• Prepares, demonstrates and executes all menu items for La Scuola; most items are savory, with some sweet items.
• Collaborates with the Events and Education Manager on monthly class updates and seasonal offerings.
• Supervises production of food items for events with back-of-house staff; manages portions and food costs.
• Maintains kitchen organization and cleanliness of the La Scuola kitchen.
• Communicates menu changes, specials, shortages, allergies and dietary restrictions to front-of-house.
