Eataly’s on-site cooking school, La Scuola, seeks an Events and Education Chef to oversee programming, teach classes and manage all events. Reports to the Executive Chef and collaborates with the Events and Education Team to deliver memorable Italian cuisine experiences.

The role involves leading kitchen staff for events, planning menus with clients, and ensuring high standards of health and quality while delivering breakfasts, lunches and dinners, including multi-course menus and buffets.

Qualifications

• 4+ years cooking experience with at least 1 year in a management role.
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, food production procedures, and safety and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of speaking in front of large groups.
• In-depth knowledge of Italian cuisine and culture; Italian language skills preferred.

Responsabilités

• Teaches a wide variety of demonstration and hands-on classes for private and public groups.
• Oversees breakfasts, lunches and dinners including 3-4 course menus, family-style menus, buffet-style receptions and other formats.
• Prepares, demonstrates and executes all La Scuola menu items; savory focus with occasional desserts.
• Supervises production of event foods with back-of-house staff; apportions meats, vegetables and desserts; controls food costs.
• Manages prep cooks and line cooks for events; trains, provides feedback and ensures health and quality standards.
• Oversees mise-en-place and kitchen cleanliness; coordinates with front-of-house on changes and specials.
• Plans events and creates menus with Education & Events team and clients; coordinates purchases and requisitions.
• Performs other duties as required.
