Job summary

Prince George’s County Government seeks skilled Seasonal CDL Operators (Equipment Operator 1G) to support Highway Maintenance tasks across the Office of Highway Maintenance. Duties include operating light equipment and vehicles, performing pre/post inspections, and assisting with maintenance and snow/ice operations.

Positions are temporary for the 2027 Snow and Ice Season with varying hours and potential over-time.

Qualifications

• Completion of a standard grade school course.
• One (1) year experience operating light power equipment.
• A valid Class A, Class B or equivalent commercial driver's license (CDL) with mandatory endorsements is required.
• Must have a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical exam.

Responsibilities

• Operate light equipment such as street sweeper, bucket truck, chipper, street flusher, belt loader, sandblaster, rubber tire roller, compressor truck, rubber tire loader, mud/straw blower, stump remover, dump truck (6 wheel).
• Operate dump trucks to transport personnel and materials to job sites and assist in loading/unloading.
• Maintain records and complete daily work logs and work orders.
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections and assist with preventive maintenance.
