Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking Health Aides to support the health and safety of campers at a seasonal residential camp. You will work with the Health Care Manager to manage the Health Center, assist with packing medications, and support health screenings.

Nursing or pre-nursing students preferred; staff live onsite during the season. Compensation ranges by season: $95/day initially, with increases for returning staff up to $113/day; full-time, seasonal work from May 31, 2027 to August

Qualifications

• 18 years old or older.
• 1-2 years of experience with children; camps, childcare, tutoring, nannying, coaching.
• Previous camp experience preferred.
• 1+ years of experience leading others as a supervisor or lead.
• Demonstrated experience planning and implementing group activities.
• Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous physical activity in an outdoor setting including hiking, boating, camping, and swimming.

Responsibilities

• Help the nurse ensure that each staff member and camper has on file a health history and examination form, as required.
• Assist in the health screening at the beginning of each session.
• Assist the nurse in conducting an inventory of supplies.
• Follow appropriate medical routines including recordkeeping in the daily medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders.
• Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk management assessment.
• Assist in monitoring health of all staff including kitchen staff.
• Other duties as assigned by the nurse.
