Job summary

Camp Galileo is seeking an experienced Camp Director to lead our K–8th grade summer camps, acting as the site General Manager and public face of the organization. You will oversee camp operations, lead a seasonal team of educators and entry-level staff, and ensure exceptional camper experiences with strong customer care and curriculum quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working directly with students in an education setting (out-of-school time, teaching, education administration, camps/recreation, etc.)
• Minimum 1 year of experience managing or supervising adult staff
• Proven experience creating safe, inclusive environments for children and building trust with families
• Proven experience setting clear expectations, giving ongoing feedback, and coaching staff to improve
• Ability to manage operational details like scheduling, staffing, and payroll
• Strong written and verbal communication with families, partners, and supervisors

Responsibilities

• Infuse camp with joy, tradition, and creativity
• Oversee camp launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up
• Ensure camper safety, family trust, and program fidelity
• Train and mentor staff (7–40) and manage payroll and scheduling
• Lead with Galileo’s Innovation Approach and partner with the Field Program Manager
• Serve as primary face of camp within the community and coordinate with partners
