Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT District 2 is seeking a seasonal Maintenance Repairman 1 to help keep district facilities safe and functional through hands-on repairs across plumbing, electrical, and carpentry trades.

You will assist with repairs, upkeep, and seasonal tasks, perform building repairs, carpentry, grounds work, tool operation, and general duties while adhering to schedules and safety practices. The position runs October 2026 to March 2027 with standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in general maintenance work involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Building Repairs: Assist with electrical, plumbing, roofing, and heating system maintenance
• Carpentry Tasks: Install fixtures, repair doors, build forms, and complete interior finish work
• Grounds Work: Maintain lawns, clear snow, prune trees, and handle outdoor upkeep
• Tool Operation: Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to complete maintenance tasks
• Facility Support: Help with stockpile assessments, conference meetings, and fire drills
• General Duties: Clean work areas, follow schedules, pick up supplies, and support safe work practices
