Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 to help keep county facilities, equipment, and grounds operating safely and smoothly for the community. In this full-time role you will perform building maintenance, service electrical/plumbing/HVAC and fire safety systems, repair machinery, mow lawns, and assist with masonry and field support for crews.

Salary starts at $41,506 annually, with additional overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or four years in building and plant maintenance with at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Building maintenance: maintain and repair county buildings, stockpiles, and facility structures.
• System repairs: service electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety systems and identify follow-up work.
• Equipment support: repair machinery, small engines, and assist diesel mechanics with major vehicle repairs.

• Construction tasks: create building forms and complete masonry work for walls, sidewalks, and related structures.
• Crew assistance: deliver fuel, pick up parts, inspect fire extinguishers, and support storeroom tasks during winter.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• Work schedule is subject to change during summer or winter seasons. Shift work, overtime, and travel are required. Shifts may vary including, 4:00 PM to 12:00AM and 12:00 AM 8:00 AM.

• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

• You must possess a current driver's license which is not under suspension.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
