Minimum Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Current food handler's permit once employed
  • Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling
  • Seafood experience
  • Retail experience
  • Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation
  • Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in performance appraisals
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines
  • Cut seafood to customers' requests using proper equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products
  • Inform customers of meat/seafood specials
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results
  • Understand the store's layout and locate products
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management
  • Implement the promotional plan for the department
  • Stay current with ads and seasonal promotions
  • Monitor and control department expenses
  • Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies
  • Schedule price changes by updating shelf tags and signs
  • Ensure compliance with country of origin labeling and regulations
  • Plan, organize, and supervise inventory processes
  • Train associates on inventory and Computer Assisted Ordering
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, logging temperatures
  • Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Notify management of accidents or safety risks
  • Report illegal activities such as theft or fraud
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
