Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Meat/Seafood department. Support the day-to-day operations of the Meat/Seafood department. Minimum requirements:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Current food handler's permit once employed
  • Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed

Desired qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling
  • Seafood experience
  • Retail experience
  • Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume during hours of operation.
  • Train and develop associates on job performance and participate in performance appraisals.
  • Adhere to all legal and company guidelines.
  • Cut seafood to customer requests using proper equipment.
  • Offer product samples and inform customers of specials.
  • Prepare foods according to safety and cooking standards.
  • Develop and implement a business plan for the department.
  • Understand store layout and locate products efficiently.
  • Create sales promotions and execute promotional plans.
  • Monitor inventory and control expenses.
  • Ensure all food safety regulations are followed, including temperature logs.
  • Maintain safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and act with integrity.
  • Support and assist diverse customer needs, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
