Job summary

Adventure Team in Juneau and Sitka seeks a Sea Kayak Guide to lead guests on Pacific Ocean tours, sharing wildlife and Southeast Alaska scenery. You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather.

CPR/First Aid certification required; may also serve as deckhand on the vessel. Duties include safety briefings, paperwork, equipment upkeep, food service, storytelling, and upholding safety policies. Positions available in Juneau and Sitka.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in inclement weather.
• Ability to lead tours and provide safety briefings.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-trip safety briefings and operate a safe tour.
• Accurately complete administrative paperwork.
• Daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Serve snacks and maintain sanitary food service.
• Learn flora, fauna, and natural history to inform narratives.
• Foster a positive, professional culture.

Sea Kayak Guide

Lead guests on tours operating on the Pacific Ocean, highlighting the natural and abundant wildlife of Southeast Alaska.

As a Sea Kayak Guide, you will lead clients on a kayak tour on the Pacific Ocean. You may also serve as a deckhand on the vessel that transports clients. You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather. Current CPR/First Aid certification required. If also working as a deckhand, pre-employment drug testing and enrollment in a random testing pool required. Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Providing pre-trip safety and skills briefing for the guests & operation of a safe tour
• Accurate completion of administrative paperwork
• Daily cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and facilities
• Sanitary food service during the snack portion of the tour
• Learning the information necessary to deliver an entertaining and informed narrative during the tour including flora, fauna, and natural history of the area
• Creating a positive, professional culture and work environment
• Understanding and compliance with company safety & operational policies
