Job summary

Adventure Team in Ketchikan is seeking a Hiking Guide to lead clients on nature hikes in Tongass National Forest. You may also serve as a deckhand on the vessel transporting guests to the hike. CPR/First Aid certification is required, and physical conditioning is essential for weather exposure.

Duties include safety briefings, paperwork, and keeping gear clean and ready. You will narrate the tour with flora, fauna, and local history while fostering a professional team atmosphere.

Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• In good physical condition and able to work in inclement weather.
• Ability to lead tours and provide engaging narration.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-trip safety and skills briefing and operate a safe tour.
• Accurate completion of administrative paperwork.
• Daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Sanitary food service during snack portions of the tour.
• Learn information to deliver informed narration on flora, fauna, and natural history.
• Create a positive, professional culture and work environment.
• Understand and comply with company safety and operational policies.

Show our guests the wonders of the coastal temperate rainforest while leading hikes on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean!

As a Hiking Guide you will lead clients on a nature hike in the Tongass National Forest. You may also serve as a deckhand on the vessel that transports clients to and from the hiking site. You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather. Current CPR/First Aid certification required. If also working as a deckhand, pre-employment drug testing and enrollment in a random testing pool required. Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Providing pre-trip safety and skills briefing for the guests & operation of a safe tour
• Accurate completion of administrative paperwork
• Daily cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and facilities
• Sanitary food service during the snack portion of the tour
• Learning the information necessary to deliver an entertaining and informed narrative during the tour including flora, fauna, and natural history of the area
• Creating a positive, professional culture and work environment
• Understanding and compliance with company safety & operational policies
