Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment seeks a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) contractor to join the Quality Engineering team in San Mateo, CA. The role focuses on testing, automation, and quality practices across PlayStation features and platforms.

You will design test strategies, build automation, and collaborate with engineering, product, and QE teams to ensure release readiness in a fast-paced environment. Prior automation and API testing experience are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering, CS, or related field, or equivalent 3–5 years UI automation experience.
• Experience writing automated tests in Python, JavaScript, C++, or similar.
• Experience with Selenium or Appium or UI Automation tech.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs, libraries, SDKs, or native apps.
• Experience with AI evaluation tooling, prompt evaluation frameworks, model monitoring, or human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Experience with at least one modern web application framework.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work in a team and independently.
• Strong initiative and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute Quality Engineering activities for new and existing features, including test strategies and plans.
• Review requirements and design documents to understand feature functionality and identify quality risks.
• Perform functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing across platforms.
• Design, develop, maintain and enhance test automation frameworks and automated test suites.
• Develop automated UI and API tests to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Analyze automated test results, investigate failures, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Identify, document, track, and verify defects throughout the development lifecycle.
• Monitor automated test executions and CI/CD jobs, report quality status, risks, and blockers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams on test strategy, planning, execution and release readiness.
• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation, tooling and QE processes.
