Job summary

Epic Games is seeking an SDET Manager to lead and expand a team focused on automated testing for Unreal Engine. You will mentor engineers, write production code in test frameworks, and own test systems end-to-end.

The role emphasizes building scalable test coverage, extending frameworks, and shaping test strategy across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers. Preferred candidates have strong C++ skills and hands-on experience with C#, Python, or TypeScript, plus knowledge of game engines

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams and guiding technical roadmaps
• Hands-on proficiency in C++ and at least one of C#, Python, or TypeScript
• Strong knowledge of game engines; Unreal Engine 5 preferred
• Experience with automation frameworks and CI at scale; setting test strategy across unit/integration/end-to-end
• Experience using AI coding tools in engineering work and judgment on reliability of output
• Ability to learn complex tech stacks quickly and extend existing investments
• Clear written communication with engineers, producers, and leadership

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of SDETs building automated test coverage across Unreal Engine and mentor SDETs at all career stages
• Write and ship production code in test frameworks, tools, and CI integrations; own team systems end-to-end
• Set the team\'s test roadmap from unit coverage to end-to-end tests of editor and runtime
• Extend existing frameworks, including low-level, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Convert manual tests to automated coverage and maintain deterministic, reproducible tests across machines
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to speed up tool/framework development, test authoring, failure triage, and flake analysis
• Increase visibility into test coverage and health for engineering leadership and influence SDET organization vision
