Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Annapolis, MD, is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test II to design and scale automated test frameworks for Akamai's Linux kernel and VM infrastructure. You will validate hardware compatibility, performance, reliability, and security across testing environments.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, port modifications to newer kernel versions, and enhance CI pipelines to ensure robust, continuous testing and deployment of our AI and Compute platform.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Solid experience in scripting (Python/Shell/Perl) with some experience in software validation in C.
• Understanding of Linux kernel internals including hardware drivers (pcie, gpu hardware, ethernet devices, KVM, virtio, cgroups, memory management, file systems, block IO, TCP/IP stack).
• Familiarity with x86 and server-class arm64 architectures.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel and hardware debugging tools, performance benchmarking, and continuous testing/CI frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale advanced automated test frameworks to validate hardware compatibility, performance, reliability, and security of Akamai's Linux kernel and OS imaging process.
• Develop test suites validating new hardware designs; port Akamai modifications to newer kernel versions and VM infrastructure software.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex low-level system issues in testing and simulated production environments.
• Architect and enhance build and test automation infrastructure for robust CI and testing.
• Learn new technical skills with senior engineers to raise testing quality standards.
