Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test II to lead the test strategy for Akamai's custom Linux kernel, focusing on functionality and hardware platform support.

You will design scalable automated testing infrastructure and troubleshoot complex system issues to validate features and maximize performance of a global AI and Compute platform. You will develop test suites for new hardware designs, port modifications to newer kernel versions, debug low-level issues,

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Strong scripting experience in Python and Shell; Perl is a plus.
• Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and hardware drivers (PCIe, GPU, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with x86 and server-class ARM64 architectures.
• Experience with Linux kernel debugging tools, performance benchmarking, and CI/testing frameworks.
• Self-motivated team player who thrives on solving complex infra challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale automated test frameworks validating hardware compatibility, performance, reliability, and security of Akamai's Linux kernel and OS imaging process.
• Develop test suites for new hardware designs and port Akamai modifications to newer kernel versions and VM infrastructure software.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex, low-level issues in diverse testing and simulated production environments.
• Architect and enhance build and test automation to enable robust CI and continuous testing.
• Learn new concepts with senior engineers to raise testing quality across the team.
