Job summary

Red Oak Technologies is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for a contract role in our San Mateo, CA area. The position is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days in the office and onsite work at 94404.

The ideal candidate will design and execute test plans, build and maintain automation frameworks, and collaborate with developers and product owners to ensure automated coverage across UI and backend features. Strong scripting with Python/JavaScript and CI experience are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS or related field or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.
• Experience building and executing test plans and test cases.
• Experience writing automated tests in Python or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with pytest or similar frameworks.
• Experience with CI pipelines; Jenkins preferred.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins, Appium.
• Experience with test management tools like Jira, QTest, QMetry.
• Ability to estimate effort and work in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements and designs to create effective testing strategies.
• Plan and execute QA activities for UI testing; build test plans and cases.
• Build, maintain and improve test automation frameworks and infrastructure.
• Develop automation standards for CI/CD, and end-to-end testing including PS5 devices testing.
• Ensure features and bug fixes have automated test coverage with Devs and PO.
• Manage Jenkins jobs and report statuses; assist with production deployment support.
