Job summary

Amazon WorkSpaces Applications is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale, secure streaming and delivery services on AWS. You will influence architecture, contribute to EC2, S3, Lambda-based patterns, and own features end-to-end in a fast-growing team.

We value customer obsession, ownership, and strong design skills. You will mentor juniors, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate across teams to raise the bar on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Design, Develop, Deliver and Operate secure, reliable and scalable solutions for customer features as well as internal operational improvements.
• Maintain high standard by delivering high quality in your own work as well as push for a high bar in code, design and other document reviews for the team.
• Work across team boundaries and help deliver on team projects by showing high bar of ownership, earn trust and deliver results.
• Develop a deep understanding of the system as well as the overall service, understand core customer usage patterns and workflows. Be part of the team's oncall rotation and help in directly engaging with customers and stakeholders and drive ticket and issue resolution.
• Demonstrate customer obsession in your work (design, implementation, testing, deployments, operations).
• Develop your communication skills and leverage written and verbal communication to earn trust and drive consensus and required outcomes while collaborating with teammates and across team-boundaries.
• Be closely engaged in team meetings and processes and help continuously identify and drive improvements for the team's efficiency and effectiveness.
• Be a mentor and role model for junior engineers by exemplifying and reinforcing the Amazon's Leadership Principles every day.
