Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the AWS Payments & Fraud Prevention team. You will design and operate scalable systems processing millions of events per second and build real-time fraud detection pipelines.

You will collaborate with scientists to integrate ML models and own end-to-end lifecycle from design to monitoring. The role emphasizes mentorship, leadership, and solving complex security challenges at AWS scale in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate highly scalable distributed systems that process millions of events per second with low-latency requirements.
• Build real-time fraud detection pipelines using Apache Flink for stream processing, aggregations, and anomaly detection.
• Develop graph-based intelligence solutions on AWS Neptune to uncover hidden relationships and identify fraud rings.
• Write high-quality, production-ready code for services that must be available 24/7 with zero tolerance for downtime.
• Own the full lifecycle of your solutions — from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with applied scientists to integrate machine learning models into real-time decisioning systems.
• Work in a fast-paced, agile environment where you’re solving complex problems with direct, measurable impact on AWS security.
• Learn from others, mentor teammates, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
