Job summary

Amazon Leo is recruiting a Software Development Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 (USA). You will own the early stages of software development, collaborate with senior engineers, and contribute to scalable services and cloud-native projects.

This in-person internship spans 12 weeks, requires 40 hours per week, and emphasizes ownership from design through deployment. Applicants should be completing a Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field, experience with Java/Python/C++ (plus others), and

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools in academic or professional settings.
• Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum.
• Expected degree conferral date between October 2027 – September 2029.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary Amazonians to design, build, and operate innovative products and services.
• Break down complex problems into well-defined components before implementation.
• Contribute to the design and development of scalable, reliable services with distributed-systems scope.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and validate correctness (including AI-generated code).
• Contribute to technical documentation and operate within CI/CD in an agile environment.
