Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join the Billing Data Services (BiDS) team. You will build and operate foundational systems that capture, store, and serve billing facts used by AWS billing services.

You will develop large-scale distributed systems in Java and other OO languages, own data quality and operational rigor, and collaborate with downstream teams and product managers to improve ingestion and serving paths across AWS.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale distributed software applications using Java/C#/C++.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, efficient, and testable code in Java and other object-oriented languages.
• Build large-scale, highly available distributed systems for ingesting, storing, and serving authoritative billing data at the scale of all of AWS.
• Design storage and serving paths that meet demanding freshness, accuracy, and latency requirements for downstream billing pipelines.
• Partner with downstream teams on schema and data contract changes, ensuring migrations are backward compatible.
• Own and operate the systems you build with a high bar for data quality and operational rigor.
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvements as part of a Scrum team.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across teams to deliver features and drive best practices.
