Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer II on the Billing Data Services (BiDS) team to build and operate the foundational systems that capture, store, and serve the billing facts that AWS billing services rely on.

You will develop and operate large-scale distributed systems on AWS, learn new technologies, and design durable storage and serving paths that support billions of records with strict freshness and latency requirements, impacting AWS customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for large systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ years designing large-scale distributed software with OO languages.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS/Engineering/Math.
• Experience programming in at least one language.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, efficient, and testable code in Java and other OO languages.
• Build large-scale distributed systems for ingesting, storing, and serving billing data.
• Design storage and serving paths meeting freshness, accuracy, and latency requirements.
• Partner with downstream teams on schema changes and backward-compatible migrations.
• Own and operate the systems with a high bar for data quality and operations.
• Contribute to planning, design, testing, and operations as part of a Scrum team.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across teams to deliver features.
