Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services in air-gapped regions.

You will own features end to end—from design and implementation to production deployment and on-call operations—across isolated environments. The role requires a TS/SCI with polygraph level security clearance, sponsorship for a commensurate clearance, and collaboration with partner teams to deliver shared infrastructure while using AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services, fleet health automation, and capacity tooling across air-gapped cloud environments.
• Own features end to end: write the design, implement and test the code, deploy it through pipelines to disconnected regions, and operate it in production, including on-call.
• Improve monitoring, alarming, and deployment safety for the services you own, and drive the fix when an operational issue reveals a gap.
• Work with partner teams and stakeholders across the air-gapped partitions to deliver shared infrastructure.
• Take part in design and code reviews, and help new engineers ramp up on the team's systems.
• Use generative artificial intelligence tools and techniques to improve automation, code quality, and team productivity.
