Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services in air-gapped regions. You will own features end-to-end—from design through production and deployment pipelines—driving reliability and automation in disconnected environments.

The role requires solving hard infrastructure challenges, partnering with teams across restricted partitions, and applying AI to improve capacity, monitoring, and fault remediation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on systems.
• Experience programming with at least one language.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle including coding standards, reviews, source control, build and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services across air-gapped regions.
• Own features end to end from design through production and deployment pipelines.
• Improve monitoring, alarming, and deployment safety for the services you own.
• Collaborate with partner teams across air-gapped partitions to deliver shared infrastructure.
• Participate in design and code reviews and help new engineers ramp up.
• Use generative AI to improve automation, code quality, and productivity.
