Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer to work on cluster lifecycle, availability, and insights within the EKS Management Plane.

You will build and improve state machines, health-detection systems, and resilience capabilities across distributed services at scale. You will own end-to-end features, collaborate with senior engineers, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure fault-tolerant operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Build and improve state machines and orchestration workflows that drive cluster create, update, and upgrade operations
• Develop health-detection systems that surface actionable insights to customers before issues become outages
• Contribute to resilience capabilities (rollback, failover, self-healing) from design through production
• Collaborate with experienced engineers across EKS to solve problems that span multiple services and teams
