Job summary

Topaz HR Advisory is seeking a Scuba Specialist to join its in-office Merchandising support team in New York. The role requires hands-on product expertise, helping drive growth in scuba and diving categories and supporting merchandising initiatives.

You will evaluate products, participate in assortment development, and collaborate with merchandising, purchasing, marketing, and e-commerce teams to bring new products to market.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of scuba equipment, accessories, brands, and industry trends.
• Experience in the scuba industry, dive retail, or related field preferred.
• Ability to evaluate products and provide informed recommendations based on real-world experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
• Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as internal scuba subject matter expert across diving equipment, accessories, and emerging categories.
• Support merchandising through product selection, assortment planning, competitive analysis, and category development.
• Evaluate current offerings and identify opportunities to expand the scuba assortment with new products and brands.
• Provide recommendations on product positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies based on market trends.
• Research industry developments and evolving consumer preferences within scuba and diving market.
• Collaborate with merchandising, purchasing, marketing, and e-commerce teams to support product launches and promotions.
• Assist in creation and review of product content, specifications, and merchandising materials for accuracy.
• Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, brand representatives, and industry contacts.
• Participate in product evaluations and provide real-world feedback from diving experience.
• Support special projects and strategic initiatives related to growth of the scuba category.
