Self-Help for the Elderly is seeking a part-time Project Assistant in Oakland, CA to recruit, assess, and support older workers in the Senior Community Service Employment Program. You will conduct intake, develop Individual Employment Plans, and assist with job search, resume prep, and interviews.

You’ll monitor timesheets, prepare reports, and ensure funder compliance. The role requires bilingual English and Chinese, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to travel within SCSEP sites.

Qualifications

  • Requires degree or equivalent experience and bilingual ability (English/Chinese).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work with diverse populations.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to multitask with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and select participants and host agencies, provide program orientation.
  • Conduct intake, assessment and eligibility screening, and develop IEPs.
  • Assist participants with job search, resume prep, and interview readiness.
  • Monitor timesheets, payroll data, and prepare program reports.
  • Maintain participant files and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
  • Coordinate with employment service providers and community partners.
