Job summary

GM Financial is seeking a Scrum Master III in Arlington, TX to guide teams in adopting Scrum, Kanban, and Agile best practices. The role removes impediments, fosters transparency, and partners with Product Owners to deliver valuable software.

You will drive high performance across distributed teams in a hybrid setup. The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of Agile leadership, Scrum certifications, and experience with Jira/Azure DevOps.

Qualifications

  • Must exhibit expert knowledge of agile frameworks including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Professional Scrum Master and advanced certification and at least 5 years of agile experience.
  • Proficient in Agile delivery tools such as TFS, Jira and Azure DevOps.
  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills at the team and management levels.
  • Ability to teach Agile, Scrum, Kanban at all levels of understanding.
  • Change agent driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong backlog tracking, burn down metrics, and velocity knowledge.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
About the Role:

The Scrum Master III serves as a servant leader and Agile coach, guiding teams and stakeholders in the adoption of Scrum principles, Agile best practices, and continuous improvement. This role facilitates Agile ceremonies, promotes team collaboration, and helps ensure work is prioritized and aligned with business value. They also remove impediments, foster a culture of transparency and trust, and empower teams to become self-organized and high-performing. This position partners closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to support successful delivery, improve team maturity, and enhance Agile effectiveness across the organization.

In This Role You Will
  • Guiding and coaching the Scrum Teams and organization on how to apply agile values and principles, and use the Scrum Framework to delight customers
  • Assessing the Scrum maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity
  • Protect the team from outside influences and remove impediments
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating informationSupporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog
  • Working closely with the Product Owner to ensure product backlog is visible and prioritized towards business value
  • Facilitating various Scrum and/or Kanban activities such as: Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Empowering the team to be self-organized
Qualifications

  • Ability to teach and train on Agile, Scrum, Kanban at a level accessible to beginners with the ability to deep dive for advanced topics

  • Excellent understanding of product and sprint backlog tracking, burn down metrics, and velocity
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge, skills, and ability working in a collaborative team environment

  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a diverse leadership team

Additional Knowledge And Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
Work Experience And Education
  • 4-6 years leading Agile teams as a Scrum Master Req
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or additional equivalent work
  • Scrum Master Certification CSM, PSM I, PMI-ACP Req
  • Advanced Scrum Master Certification: PSM II (Scrum.org) or A-CSM (Scrum Alliance) Pref
  • PSM III, CSP-SM strongly Pref Subject to stressful situations
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs
  • Possibility of working long hours
