Main Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Set up and operate various screw machines for manufacturing precision aircraft quality fasteners.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Competencies:

• Read and interpret documents (blueprints, drawings, or manufacturing work orders) to determine necessary tools and materials for producing products to precision tolerances according to aircraft specifications.
• Set up and operate all assigned screw machines on a production basis, including making settings and adjustments to produce parts to specifications. Select, mount, and align tooling attachments and materials properly. Make adjustments to ensure acceptable quality.
• Monitor production runs using measuring devices such as comparators, micrometers, calipers, and other inspection gauges.
• Rework and direct reworking of tooling as needed.
• Keep accurate statistical process control (SPC) records for each manufactured job, making adjustments during production as guided by SPC data.
• Meet and maintain productivity levels and quality requirements to support departmental goals and schedules.
• Perform minor preventative maintenance on assigned machines.
• Conduct record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and adhere to safety regulations.

Pay Scale: Ranges from $20.67 to $38.46 per hour.

Qualifications

Other Competencies:

• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and understand blueprints.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED. Minimum of four (4) years of experience operating various screw machines or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, finger, or feel; talk or hear. Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
