Job summary

Giant Eagle in Westlake, OH is seeking a Bakery Team Member. You will help prepare and bake products to ensure freshness, provide guest service, and contribute to a friendly, efficient bakery environment. You’ll work with scratch recipes, help guests, and maintain safety and sanitation standards.

The role emphasizes understanding customer needs, product quality, and teamwork within the Bakery team to deliver the freshest offerings for our guests.

Qualifications

• 6–12 months bakery experience or completion of Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
• Prior bakery or related industry experience desired.
• No High School diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench work according to scratch procedures when necessary.
• Prepare and shape products to spec using scratch recipes.
• Bake products to specified time and temperature.
• Insert products into proof box and set controls for proper size and shape.
• Prepare and fry donuts according to established procedures.
• Rotate and manage bakery products to ensure freshness and proper dating.
• Provide exemplary customer service and assist guests in locating products.
• Suggestive selling and active sampling when appropriate.
• Maintain safety and sanitation across the bakery area.
• Keep equipment, surfaces, and floors clean and organized.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist in maintaining bakery backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
• Assist in other areas as required.
