HEI Civil is seeking an experienced Scraper Operator to join our Waco, TX team. You will operate a scraper and support a range of heavy civil projects, including roadways and water infrastructure, while coordinating with crew members to meet daily goals.

The role requires 2+ years of heavy equipment experience and a high school diploma or GED. Expect outdoor work in various weather and a strong focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate a scraper to support heavy civil construction projects.
• Operate additional equipment as needed (loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, compactors, water trucks, etc.).
• Complete daily equipment inspections and document findings.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and good operating condition.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.
• Participate in daily crew meetings and project planning.
• Assist with general labor when not operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a scraper to support a variety of heavy civil construction projects.
• Operate additional equipment as needed, including loaders, excavators, dozers, motor graders, compactors, water trucks, skid steers, backhoes, mechanized brooms, and other construction equipment.
• Work closely with crew members to complete daily project activities and follow site direction.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and accurately document findings.
• Keep assigned equipment clean and in good operating condition.
• Perform routine equipment checks and communicate maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Participate in daily crew meetings and project planning activities.
• Operate equipment in accordance with company procedures, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Communicate equipment concerns, operational issues, or job site observations to the supervisor.
• Assist with additional duties as needed to support project operations.
• When equipment operation is not required, assist the crew with general labor activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Familiarity with electronic equipment controls and operating systems.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and equipment operating skills.
• Working knowledge of heavy civil construction methods and job site operations.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials and working on uneven terrain.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two or more years of experience operating scrapers or other heavy construction equipment preferred.
• Experience working on heavy civil, roadway, earthwork, or site development projects is a plus.
