Job summary

SA Recycling LLC is seeking a hard-working Scrap Inspector to be the first point of contact with customers bringing scrap material into the yard. The role involves inspecting loads outdoors in all weather, documenting deliveries, and directing traffic to the correct collection site within the yard.

The Inspector will verify conformance to quality and quantity specs while complying with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• 1 year of general labor experience in scrap metal or construction preferred.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
• Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Must pass physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming customer loads for acceptable and non-acceptable materials.
• Maintain knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Identify and grade inbound scrap and reject non-conforming items.
• Direct customer traffic to the appropriate collection sites.
• Deduct weight for non-conforming items and communicate with customers.
• Assist with unloading materials and maintain yard cleanliness.
• Coordinate with weighmaster and machine operator for each load.
