Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or steel operations preferred.
• Must work outdoors daily, in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and diagrams.
• Ability to accurately log weights, PO numbers, pile numbers, vendors and scrap data.

Responsibilities

• Support scrap yard receiving, inspection, inventory, and daily operations.
• Weigh and inspect scrap deliveries and shipments entering or leaving the facility by truck or rail.
• Monitor the radiation detection system during the receiving process.
• Inspect incoming scrap to ensure it meets internal material specifications.
• Enter weights, PO numbers, pile numbers, vendors and scrap data into scale software.
• Direct incoming trucks to correct dumping locations.
• Maintain records for truck deliveries, railcars, bills of lading, scale tickets and railroad movements.
• Coordinate movement of railcars containing required scrap grades for the melt shop.
• Perform month-end scrap inventory and assist with daily receipt and consumption tracking.
• Identify, document, warn against, or reject non-conforming scrap materials.
• Communicate with scrap vendors, railroad representatives and internal departments.
• Investigate scrap-related problems and help resolve issues.
