Job summary

SA Recycling seeks a Crane Operator to operate hydraulic grapple or magnetic cranes for loading, unloading and moving scrap metal in an outdoor yard. The role requires following safety procedures and working under varied weather conditions.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED (or equivalent), and 2 years crane experience in scrap/construction is preferred; bilingual skills are a plus, with the ability to follow instructions, learn new tasks, and pass medical and background checks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• 2 years of grapple crane operations experience in scrap metal or construction preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Attendance is a must for this position.

Responsibilities

• Operate a grapple or magnetic crane to lift, sort, load or unload scrap metal and debris for processing.
• Determine load weights and verify against lifting capacities to prevent overloads and hazards.
• Manipulate hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane per instructions within safe parameters.
• Perform daily inspections and report concerns or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Direct truck drivers into proper positions for loading or unloading scrap metal.
• Comply with all applicable SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules and procedures.
