Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking a Material Handler to operate hydraulic grapples or magnetic cranes, sort scrap, and load/unload containers and trailers. The role is outdoors and requires adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; 1 year of general labor in scrap or construction is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, with the ability to follow instructions and learn new tasks.

• 1 year of general labor experience in scrap metal or construction preferred.
• Previous Hydraulic Crane experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to follow written or verbal instructions; learn new tasks.

Responsibilities

• Basic sorting of scrap, metal and debris in preparation for processing.
• Provide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
• Operate a hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane to lift, sort, load or unload scrap metal.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment and report defects to supervisor.
• Determine load weights and verify against lifting capacities to prevent overloads.
• Comply with all SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules and procedures.
