Job summary

North American Stainless is hiring a Desk Operator to support the Scrap Basket Lead Operator in loading procedures. The role requires adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced plant environment.

Responsibilities include directing basket loading via the HMI charge model, coordinating with crane operators and yard staff, and recording data in AS400 while maintaining safety and quality goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Scrap basket shift leader and group leader in daily operations.
• Cover shifts for the scrap basket shift leader when needed.
• Direct the loading of baskets using the HMI charge model.
• Communicate with crane operators, heavy operators and on-site contractors.
• Operate scales to verify correct material charges.
• Understand and operate the alloy system.
• Input data from scrap basket charge sheet into level 2.
• Lookup schedule information in AS400.
• Assign chutes for material to be added to the EAF.
• Perform required shift scale checks.
• Conduct maintenance inspections as required.
• Team up to complete jobs in a timely manner.
• Follow all safety procedures.
• Work with maintenance during breakdown periods.
• Familiarize with scraps, alloys, and locations.
