Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented sorter to identify and separate IB scrap by grade for resale as commodity or blended sales. You will use a handheld analyzer, understand alloy compositions, and remove non-conforming material from loads.

You will safely operate forklifts and skidsteers, keep a clean work area, and support additional duties as needed in all weather conditions. A strong team player mindset and safety-first approach are essential.

Qualifications

Must follow safety regulations.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Capable of lifting 50+ pounds repetitively.
Self-motivated team player with willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Sort and identify IB scrap by grade and grade type in bulk or packaged form.
Understand and retain knowledge of chemical compositions of stainless/alloy/tool steel scrap.
Remove non-conforming scrap from loads to ensure quality.
Safely operate and maintain mobile equipment including forklift and skidsteer.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
