Job summary

South Coast Lumber is seeking a Millwright Helper in Brookings, Oregon to support maintenance of industrial equipment and learning under skilled millwrights. This developmental role offers hands-on training with potential progression into a Millwright Apprenticeship based on performance and business needs.

You will assist with mechanical maintenance, read blueprints, and follow work orders while prioritizing safety and teamwork in a fast-paced facility. Training may begin on a day shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist millwrights with mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment during maintenance work, as needed.
• Support preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and ensure safe operation.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to complete tasks.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.

Department: Maintenance - South Coast Lumber
Compensation: $24.42-28.57 DOE per hour (After a probationary period, potential for shift differential)
Schedule: Swing or Graveyard Shift (Day shift for training) | 40-60 hours per week (Weekends and some holidays)

Key Responsibilities

Assist millwrights with mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery.

Help with the disassembly and reassembly of equipment during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

Support preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and ensure safe operation.

Accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to complete assigned tasks.

Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
