Job summary

National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is seeking an Alternate Special Security Officer to join the National Security Research Oversight Office (NSRO). You will lead on-site security operations for SCIF construction, supervise surveillance technicians, and ensure compliance with ICD 705 and CSPs.

This role requires drafting SOPs, training materials, and investigative reports, coordinating with DOE, OLP, and external partners, and traveling up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Active DOE Q/TS or higher security clearance.
• Minimum 6 years as SSO/CSSO with oversight of sensitive operations.
• Knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM), ICDs (700 series).
• Expertise in SCIF construction and security disciplines (PERSEC, PHYSEC, IA, COMSEC).
• Ability to draft clear policies, training materials, and investigative reports.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site authority for construction security operations.
• Supervise CSTs and Access Control Specialists.
• Review drawings to verify security requirements.
• Oversee site audits and maintain documentation.
• Develop SOPs and Emergency Action Plans for SCIFs.
