Position Summary
The Bioanalytical (BA) function within Translational Medicine/Clinical Pharmacology is a centralized function for testing biological samples for Pharmacokinetics (PK), biomarkers, and Immunogenicity assessments during the development stage. The responsibilities of the groups include providing bioanalytical leadership on BMS drug development teams via scientific/technical expertise and strategic input; overseeing and/or performing assay development/ validation, and sample analysis; supporting regulated and non-regulated bioanalysis for toxicology and clinical studies; and preparing appropriate documentation and/or interacting with health authorities on the BA portion of regulatory filings. The BA groups utilize both internal resources and external strategic partners to ensure on-time delivery of BA data to enable key decisions for the organization.
The candidate for this position will be responsible for providing pharmacodynamic (PD) and target engagement (TE) method development support for BMS development programs using mass spectrometry technology. This role involves close collaboration with translational teams to develop and implement bioanalytical methodologies that support PD/TE endpoints via mass spectrometry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge bioanalytical method development and to work within a dynamic and collaborative team at BMS.
Key Responsibilities
Develop mass spectrometry-based methods to support PD/TE and act as the subject matter expert on mass spectrometry within cross-functional biomarker groups.
Act as the mass spectrometry imaging technology leader on cross-functional teams for spatial biology, mass tagging, and tissue imaging PD/TE measurements.
Serve as the technical expert on extraction, chromatography, mass spectrometric instrumentation, stability, and other method-related issues.
Evaluate and apply novel techniques or approaches to address challenging bioanalytical issues.
Keep management apprised of project status and current scientific trends using written and oral summaries, as well as presentations.
Enhance the scientific credibility of BMS through contributions to the scientific literature (publications/presentations), through extramural activities and scientifically related interactions with academic and health authorities.
Qualifications & Experience
Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
0-2 years of academic and / or industry experience
A candidate with a PhD degree in related field is required.
Demonstrated background in imaging mass spectrometry, spatial biology, tissue quantification, and MALDI techniques. A candidate with a background in MALDI imaging techniques of tissue, demonstrated through graduate or postgraduate work, will receive priority consideration.
Operational expertise in independently designing and completing mass spectrometry-related bioanalysis projects.
Ability to multi-task and work in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in a team-based environment.
