JOB DESCRIPTION

Open Rank Position (Tenured/Tenure Track) for Clinician Scientist in Alzheimer's Disease

at Wake Forest University School of Medicine

We seek an applicant with an M.D. and an established record of publications, funding, and experience in clinical trials and clinical research in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders for a tenure-track faculty position (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor). U.S. licensed candidates with relevant experience in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders from all clinical specialty areas will be considered (i.e., Geriatrics, Neurology or Psychiatry).

Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM) has designated Alzheimer's disease as one of six prioritized research focus areas, which also include Aging, Neurosciences, Diabetes/Obesity, Cardiovascular Disease, and Health Equity. WFUSM is home to several highly collaborative NIH-funded Centers, including an Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Pepper Older Adult Independence Center, and a Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

About Us

Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium/Advocate Health have come together as ONE leading, academic health system. WFUSM is the academic heart of the health system, serving 5.5 million patients across more than 1,000 care sites and 67 hospitals in five states. As the third largest not-for-profit health system in the nation, we offer opportunities for population-based and health systems research, clinical and pragmatic trials, and translational science. Our National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT) provides services for patient recruitment, trial administration, data collection, and real-world evidence gathering.

We aim to transform translational research from bench to bedside to community, pioneer new education models, and advance knowledge about aging and Alzheimer's disease to develop innovative prevention and treatment strategies that improve patient care.

The successful candidate will lead efforts to expand the reach of our national Alzheimer's clinical trials program within the Atrium/Advocate health system, collaborating with our NCCT. They will also play a key role in clinical research at the NIH-funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center of Excellence, connecting with premier academic institutions nationwide. Generous research time and resources will be provided to support success.
