Job summary

The Fountain Group is seeking a Scientist in Des Plaines, IL for a 1-year, full-time onsite assignment focused on oligonucleotide manufacturing, characterization, validation, and continuous improvement.

You will support a Technical Product Support team, assist with experiment design, perform wet-lab testing, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams while maintaining detailed records. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s is preferred in a regulated setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, organic chemistry, or related discipline.
• Master's degree preferred; advanced degrees may offset required years of experience.
• Experience with GMP, ISO, and FDA regulations is preferred.
• Experience with oligonucleotide chemistry, including synthesis, purification, analytical characterization, or assay development, is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and data analysis skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for diagnostic products under the guidance of senior team members.
• Assist with the design and execution of experiments and perform testing using analytical chemistry instruments.
• Perform hands-on wet lab activities supporting product testing, characterization, and development.
• Support oligonucleotide manufacturing, characterization, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Analyze experimental data and summarize results.
• Learn and apply Quality System requirements, change control processes, and technical impact assessments.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and cross‑functional teams to investigate technical documentation and product‑related issues.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and technical documentation in accordance with established procedures.
