Job summary

The Allen Institute in Seattle seeks a Scientist I to advance proteome-focused neuroscience within the Brain Proteome Organization. You will develop scalable synapse proteomics approaches and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to understand how proteomes shape brain circuits.

You will collaborate across core facilities, apply data-driven analyses in R and Python, and contribute to advancing open science and shared resources in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in STEM (i.e. Neuroscience, Biology, or related field); or equivalent combination of degree and experience
  • Experimental experience in lab-based research and molecular methods
  • Experience in R and/or python

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects on proteome organization across neuronal populations and synapse types in the brain
  • Design and perform scalable synapse type-specific proteomics experiments
  • Develop and apply next-generation workflows for synapse isolation and proteomic analysis
  • Analyze and integrate large-scale proteomic datasets with multimodal structural and functional data
  • Coordinate with internal teams and core facilities to acquire and process experimental data
  • Develop and improve computational and statistical strategies for data production and processing
  • Publish and present findings in peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences
  • Execute collaborative projects within the team, across teams, and/or with external collaborators
