Job summary

The Allen Institute seeks an Associate Investigator to lead proteomic and connectomic analyses of human brain tissues in health and disease, focusing on neurodegenerative disorders. The role advances tissue preparation, light-sheet imaging, and integration with proteomics, single-cell and spatial genomics.

You will mentor scientists, collaborate across teams, contribute to SEA-AD, pursue external funding, and present findings.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D./Ph.D. in experimental neuroscience or biology, physics, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience in experimental and/or computational neuroscience, with publication record.
  • Domain knowledge of systems, cellular and/or molecular neuroscience, with emphasis on synaptic connectivity.
  • Experience working independently and in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with outside collaborators to achieve defined objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead breakthrough research and deployment of state-of-the-art methods in cellular and circuit neuroscience.
  • Contribute to a larger discovery science effort to understand cellular, molecular and circuit bases of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Advise and mentor scientists and technicians performing proteomic and connectomic studies in human brain tissues.
  • Contribute to Alzheimer’s research as part of SEA-AD consortium.
  • Develop scalable methods for cleared and expanded human tissues.
