Job description

We are early-stage startup focused on the genetic underpinning of common diseases. We are hiring a Scientist - Genome Engineer to design, build and validate existing and novel editing approaches in human cellular models of disease.

You will own all editing work from design, testing, readout and iterative cycles of optimizations. As foundational scientific hire, you will shape our platform, our lab and our scientific culture, working directly with the founding team.

What you will do
  • Design and execute on multiple precision editing strategies
  • Build and screen libraries; optimize editing efficiency, purity and product outcome in primary cells and relevant disease models.
  • Develop and compare delivery approaches across viral and non-viral (LNP, RNP electroporation, nanoparticle) delivery systems.
  • Run specificity and safety assessment: off-target nomination and validation, translocation and large-deletion analysis, and the assays our regulatory path will require.
  • Own experimental design, data analysis and documentation to a standard that supports IND-enabling work and patent filings.
  • Manage additional team members, equipment, protocols, vendor relationships.
Required qualifications
  • PhD in genetics, molecular biology, bioengineering, genome engineering or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on expertise with precision genome editing tools: CRISPR-Cas nucleases, base editors, prime editors, and the design and screening workflows around them.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple delivery systems.
  • Experience editing primary cells or other therapeutically relevant cell types, with quantitative readouts (NGS-based editing analysis, PCR, flow cytometry).
  • Strong experimental design and data analysis skills; comfort with sequencing data and standard bioinformatic tools for editing outcome analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in a small team, build reports and presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Authorized to work in the United States and on-site.
Preferred qualifications
  • Highly skilled at multitasking and AI tool integration.
