Job summary

Washington State University’s Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology division seeks a Scientific Assistant to perform advanced laboratory analyses and support research initiatives within the College of Veterinary Medicine. You will design, select, modify, and adapt procedures to meet project needs, evaluate data, and ensure quality control across the research process.

This full-time, temporary role (12 months) is based at the Pullman campus and involves working with animals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology or closely related discipline with three years of related research experience, two in a lab.
• Ability to follow pre-established scientific procedures and protocols.
• Willingness to work with animals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct highly complex, advanced technical laboratory analyses to support specialized research initiatives.
• Design, select, modify, and adapt procedures to meet project requirements.
• Evaluate research data and ensure quality control throughout the research process.
• Contribute substantive improvements in techniques and interpretation based on extensive domain knowledge.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology or closely related discipline

Master’s degree substituted for up to one year of work experience
