Job summary

Washington State University seeks a Scientific Assistant in Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology to perform advanced laboratory analyses for research projects. You will design, adapt procedures, evaluate data, ensure QC, and contribute to methodological improvements with extensive domain knowledge.

This 100% FTE temporary position ends October 31, 2027, with potential renewal based on funding. Salary ranges from $3,750.85 to $5,397.56 monthly and includes comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology or closely related discipline with three years of progressively responsible related professional research experience, two years in a lab.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• A Master’s degree may substitute for up to one year of required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts highly complex, advanced technical laboratory analyses.
• Designs, modifies and adapts procedures for specific project needs.
• Evaluates research data and ensures quality control throughout the process.
• Suggests improvements in techniques and interpretation based on deep knowledge of the study area.
