The Sciences Librarian is directly responsible for supporting and adding value to Bucknell students' education by serving as a central information resource for faculty and students in the natural sciences and computer science, and providing general research support as part of a team of librarians in a liberal arts setting. This position provides research support and instructional services, selects, organizes, and provides access to information in the relevant disciplines, and supports the campus community in exploring the role of artificial intelligence in higher education libraries and information technology organizations. The Sciences Librarian is fully engaged with faculty and students providing relevant instruction, outreach, and support for scholarship. The Sciences Librarian is expected to contribute to a work environment that is inclusive, diverse and supportive of all members of a vibrant and diverse University community, including students, faculty and staff.

Job Duties:
Reporting Relationships / Direct Reports:
The Sciences Librarian reports to the Director for Research Services and Information Literacy.
What You'll Do:

What You'll Bring:
Education: ALA-accredited Masters degree (MLS) in library/information science by May 2025. Undergraduate or other degree in Sciences, Computer Science, or related field.
Professional Work Experience: 2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent in transferable roles.
Preferred, but not required:
Education: Additional relevant subject area master’s degree.
Knowledge of (or strong interest in learning about) artificial intelligence and its potential applications in higher education and STEAM fields.
Professional Work Experience: 2 years of professional librarian experience in an academic library.
Teaching experience.
Knowledge Areas and Skills:
Ability to set priorities and manage work and deadlines independently.
Ability to analyze needs and make local decisions based on national and local trends and to design processes that enhance services while maximizing university resources.
Demonstrated effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting an atmosphere of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Work Setting:
While this position works closely with students and usually requires an on-campus presence, the role does allow for flexibility to engage in limited remote work, particularly when students are not on campus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to use keyboard, computer and other library equipment. Ability to work in an office setting, with or without accommodations, to include: sitting, standing, moving about the office and campus. May be stationary for extended periods of time.

Salary Range:
54,080.00-67,600.00
The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time; all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
